This past Saturday, something truly special happened. I wasn't just photographing a wedding – I was reliving a part of my own university days!
Back in 1997, I met a wild-haired metalhead named Dane on campus. We were two peas in a pod – fueled by good beer and even better live music. Fast forward 27 years, and there I was, capturing Dane saying "I do" to the love of his life,Brooke.
Let me tell you, this wasn't your typical wedding. Forget the slow waltzes and predictable playlists. This celebration was a beautiful clash of opposites, a perfect harmony between Dane, the larger-than-life metalhead, and Brooke, his quiet and gentle sweetheart. Seeing them together was pure joy – a testament to the fact that love truly knows no bounds (or musical preferences!).
But what really set this wedding apart was the atmosphere. These weren't just guests – they were a community brought together by a shared love for Dane, Brooke, and yes, even a little bit of metal. The highlight? When the DJ dropped a Mudvayne song – a first for me in all my years of photographing weddings!
This wedding wasn't just a job for me. It was a privilege to be welcomed as a friend, not just a photographer. Every wedding tells a story, leaves a mark, and makes me deeply grateful for the chance to play a part in people's lives.
The day itself ran like clockwork, a testament to Dane's meticulous planning. (Seriously, this guy should consider a career shift into wedding coordination!) As the sun dipped below the horizon, we headed to Warner's Bay for some breathtaking portraits. The light was perfect, the mood electric, and the laughter flowed freely.
Days like this remind me why I'm so passionate about what I do. It's more than just capturing moments – it's about capturing the essence of love, joy, and the beautiful chaos of life.
Dane and Brooke, thank you for letting me be a part of your unforgettable day. It was truly a blast!
